3 Companies That Are Leading The Electric Vehicle Industry | EMotorad
We all know that it’s the age of the electric revolution. Did you know that the Indian Government has announced an ambitious plan of phasing out conventional internal combustion engines by 2030? While this means that many of the existing companies will have to rework their strategies from the ground up, this also leaves a large void for new companies that could reap huge returns in the future. We take a look at 3 game-changers who are looking to revolutionize the Indian automobiles industry with their new-gen electric bikes:
Ather Energy
Ather is the largest startup operating in the electric vehicle space. The company is looking to produce a range of premium smart two-wheelers targeting the high-income Indian users. The company unveiled their first product, the S340 Scooter in January 2016 and is set to start production by the end of this year. Designed and built completely in-house, the S340 can achieve a top-speed of 75 km/h. The scooter has a range of 72 km when run at a constant 60 km/h and the batteries can be topped up to 80% in just 50 minutes.
Tork Motorcycles
Tork was the first company to have launched an electric bike in the country. Their T6X features a naked street-bike styling and an indigenously developed motor. The bike can whirr its way to a 100 km/h top speed and the company claims that the bike will have a maximum range of over 100 km. The interesting standout feature here is the advanced data collection and on-board telematics systems. The T6X has a touchscreen interface with navigation compatibility and a customizable UI. The T6X is open for pre-bookings now and was available in Pune, Delhi and Bengaluru at the time of launch.
Mean Metal Motors
MMM was born as a dream of a few college students at the Manipal Institute of Technology. It aims to develop the first Indian supercar – one that can rival some of the most legendary carmakers abroad. The company signed an agreement with Italy-based Tazzari Group which already has suitable expertise in building electric vehicles. The M-Zero will make its debut in India in 2019 and will be priced between INR 60-80 Lakhs.
