An Electric bike or bicycle is also known as an e-bike which a bicycle with an integrated electric motor that can be used to assist propulsion.

Many kinds of e-bikes are available in the market worldwide, but generally, we go for two broad categories.

One is Bikes that assist the rider’s pedal-power i.e. pedelecs and the second one is the bikes that add a throttle, integrating moped-style functionally.

Both retain the ability as the pedaled bicycle by the rider and but not that will be electric motorcycles

 

Dos of Electric Cycle

  • Do follow rules set by land transport authority

The LTA (Land Transport Authority) made some rules and regulations on the usage of the Electric cycle. Make yourself familiar with the all laws before starting your first ride. Otherwise, you’ll get caught by the LTA’s officer and you don’t want to get caught on the very first day.

 

  • Do recharge your Electric cycle’s battery before every ride.

Before starting any ride, ensure to check your battery percentage. You should your electric cycle’s batteries before going on any ride. Otherwise, maybe you will go on a long ride and it stopped in half of the ride and you have to do lots of hard work to get back home.

 

  • Do check safety before ongoing your every ride.

Before going on every ride, do check your safety which will never fail during your ride.Check your electric cycle’s brake pads, it will lead to preventing any type of accident.

Also do check your wheels and tires, ensure that there are no nails stuck in your wheels otherwise you will face more difficulties, your cycle’s tire will flat and you have to go for servicing, and maybe you late for your work.

 

  • Do always beware on the road

Always take care of yourself while riding the electric cycle. Prevent your electric cycle with road patches and potholes. It will cause any kind of accident.

Always pay attention to the road where you going.

 

Don’ts of Electric Cycle

  • Don’t ever try to break the LTA’s rules

As above mentioned, the Land Transport Authority made some rules and regulations, you should always follow the rule. If you ever try to break the rule such as riding on a footpath may cause you to fine a charge of Rs 2000 for the very first time.

 

  • Don’t ever overcharge your electric cycle’s batteries

You should never overcharge your electric cycle’s batteries, it will lead to shorter the life span of the batteries and after some time you have to change the batteries and you have to spend more money for it.

Some time overcharging the batteries leads to the explosion of batteries and it may cause a heavy accident.

 

  • Don’t ride or handle your electric cycle roughly.

Never ride your cycle roughly on any road, it will lead your electric bike’s wheel week and broken at some point.

Treat it like how you would treat your bicycle or motorcycle. Make it stand upright. Avoid letting it lay flat on the ground. This is also part of E-Bike maintenance.

Do not over speed over potholes. This is not only downright dangerous but also bad for your vehicle and for you too. 

 

  • Don’t park under the Sun

Parking under the sun cause heating of the batteries of electric bike, it will lead to shorter the life span of the batteries and after some time you have to change the batteries and you have to spend more money for it.

Sometimes overcharging the batteries leads to the explosion of batteries and it may cause a heavy accident.
